Major Considerations for a Wellness-Focused Home Design

Some homes are built with luxury or a specific purpose in mind, and others are designed to increase their resale value. Today, many homeowners are interested in having a wellness-focused home design. To achieve this kind of space, here are some of the factors you should take note of during your remodel.

Indoor Air Quality

Installing air filters or air purifying systems reduces accumulated dust and dirt in your home. Furthermore, improved ventilation and insulation can also prevent excessive humidity, maintain a steady indoor temperature and enhance your overall comfort.

Water

Consider adding faucets with motion-sensor technology to help encourage frequent handwashing. You can also use shower filtration systems to remove high chlorine levels in the water and other chemicals that are harmful to the skin and hair.

Lighting

Smart temperature-adjusting color bulbs that imitate natural lighting can help improve your circadian rhythm. New windows and blinds can also be added to increase the amount of sunlight that reaches your space. Natural lighting is known for being a mood booster.

Dining

If you like healthy foods and want to be able to stock up on veggies and lean meat, you should have plenty of storage for those types of food items. Convenient and energy-saving cooking areas, and juicing stations are also great additions as they can encourage healthy eating.

Fitness

Build your own gym so that you can have a dedicated space for your stationary bike, treadmill and weightlifting equipment. When designing your home gym, ensure these rooms have proper ventilation to prevent heat buildup, reduce odors and guarantee your comfort. You can also allocate space for yoga or meditation or a massage room.

Socialization

Design your living spaces in a way that would encourage conversation and easy access during gatherings.
